Chalk pastels Term 3

Election writing Term 3

WALT: Write an effective argument for our chosen political party.

Have you voted yet, If not are you planning on, and if you are who?
Well in my opinion I reckon that National is a great and agreeable party and so are there policies, another good reason is that they have been running the government for a while and are doing a fine job. Here are the three policies I am going to vote for these include: Continue to require farmers to exclude livestock from waterways, continue to fund community-based housing initiatives to prevent homeless, and strengthen tax rules affecting multinational companies. The first policy I will be explaining is: Continue to require farmers to exclude livestock from waterways.

Continue to require farmers to exclude livestock from waterways.
This would mean that all farmers with livestock for Instance Dairy farms would have to find another way to give water to their livestock as their wastings are making the water not drinkable and unsafe.More water will be safer and drinkable as there will be no contaminants in the water, and I am sure you would like to be able to drink clean water.Furthermore, this will make the economy higher because NZ will have more clean water to sell and use.Another really important policy on why you should vote National, is Continue to fund community-based housing initiatives to prevent homeless.

Continue to fund community-based housing initiatives to prevent homeless.
This means National will continue to fund charities like Salvation army to help the homeless and stop homelessness.By giving them food, water, shelter and medical advice.Wouldn’t you want to have a home, food and clothes if you were in those circumstances? This is a great policy because it will prevent homeless and stop them getting into trouble these include: crimes, stealing and drugs. They do these bad things because, people get too hungry and greedy so they decide to steal. This will also help the homeless people's well-being and give them a better future. This a awesome policy as this will prevent people from getting sick or cold; this could also save someone's life and future. As well as continuing to fund community-based housing initiatives to prevent homeless, Strengthening  tax rules affecting multinational companies is also a fair and
satisfying policy.

Strengthen tax rules affecting multinational companies.
This means that National will strengthen tax rules for companies that are branched in other countries who are paying the same amount as people who only are in one place. This is a very agreeable policy as companies who only have one store are having to pay the same amount as people with multiple stores around the world. This will help the economy a lot as well as people are paying the same amount for everything and is still fair.In addition to helping the economy, this will will help keep track of companies who are trying to get away with paying tax and are paying lower.Imagine if you were having to pay the same amount as companies with more shops than you I am sure you'd want it to be fair.A policy I highly disagree with is is to set a minimum price for alcohol.

A very unagreeable and bad policy is to set a minimum price for alcohol.
This means that they will set low prices on alcohol for people who consume it. I think this is a very bad policy because this will actually result in, encouraging  people to drink alcohol as it is cheap and people who couldn’t afford now can. This, is also a very bad policy because this may encourage young people to drink and will get them  drunk  which will cause numerous types of crimes. This is a very good reason you should not vote for green, and vote for National, I will now wrap up everything we have gone over.

Now that I have clearly explained a couple of National’s policies, can you see why National is the party to vote for. Furthermore, Nationals policies are strong across the whole board.I have covered three policies of national under economy, housing and incomes. Now do you think your going to vote for anyone but National?

My next steps are: To try new and better ways to link paragraphs and use more powerful words.

Letter Writing

In Writing we have been learning to: Write a formal letter.

We have followed the writing process and have planned and drafted a formal letter.

This shows the process that we have followed.

Here is the letter that I have written.

Here is my reflection on the letter writing that we have done.

One thing that I found challenging about writing formal letters was trying to add formal language.

My next step is: look for more opportunities to put my letter writing knowledge into practice in the future.
